16th ArteinCanto International Opera Competition
“Luciano Di Pasquale”

Regulations
Art. 1
The 16th ArteinCanto International Opera Competition “Luciano Di Pasquale” will be held in Teramo (TE), Italy from July 11 to 13, 2024 at the “Gaetano Braga” State Conservatory of Music located in Corso San Giorgio n.14. The winners’ concert will be held on July 14, 2024.
Art. 2
Singers of all nationalities and of all voice categories, with no age limit, are eligible to participate in the competition.
Art. 3
Each competitor must present 4 (four) opera arias in the original language and key, one of which must be preferably from the Mozart repertoire.

Applications for admission must be submitted by July 6, 2024 directly on our website at the following link:

and must be complete with:

In case of non-participation or if the registration does not comply with the regulations, the organization will not be obliged to refund the registration fee.
Late registrations may be accepted at the sole discretion of the organizers.
Art. 5
All board and lodging expenses are at the participants’ expense.
Art. 6
The cash prizes (1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be awarded in any case.
PRIZES
The prizes of the 16th competition, divided into cash prizes and artistic prizes, are as follows:
CASH PRIZES
- 1ST PRIZE of Euro 1,200 and a concert on July 14 + Euro 300 Scholarship*
- 2ND PRIZE of Euro 700 and a concert on July 14 + Euro 300 Scholarship*
- 3RD PRIZE of Euro 200 and a concert on July 14 + Euro 300 Scholarship*
- “Best Young Singer” SCHOLARSHIP of Euro 200 and a concert on July 14
- “Luciano Di Pasquale” SCHOLARSHIP for the best bass-baritone of Euro 300 and a concert on July 14 + 200€ Scholarship*
* The Scholarship will be awarded to the winners only if they perform in the concert on July 14th.
ARTISTIC PRIZES
- Artistic Prize “Fondazione Arturo Toscanini”*
- Artistic Prize “Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese”*
- Artistic Prize “Istituzione Concertistica Orchestrale Suoni del Sud”*
- Artistic Prize “Società della Musica e del Teatro Primo Riccitelli”*
* The Artistic Directors of the “Fondazione Arturo Toscanini”, “Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese”, “Istituzione Concertistica Orchestrale Suoni del sud” and the “Società della Musica e dei Concerti Primo Riccitelli” or their delegates will be present in the jury on the evening of the final and will evaluate at their sole discretion the assignment of concert engagements to be included in their next programming;
Art. 7
All competitors must present themselves at 2:00 p.m. on July 11, 2024 for the roll call, with an identity document and a copy of the pieces to be performed. Competitors who are absent from the roll call will be excluded from the competition, unless their delay is justified by a valid reason. The order of call for the auditions will be drawn by lot.
Art. 8
On July 10, at the “Gaetano Braga” State Conservatory of Music, a collaborating pianist will be available to participants from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for an eventual rehearsal. Competitors who wish to avail themselves of this service must book their turn by Whatsapp message to the number of the Artistic Secretariat +39 333 9546655
Art. 9
The competition will consist of three phases:
PRELIMINARY: The competitor must perform an opera aria in the original language of his/her choice.
SEMIFINAL: The competitor must perform, at the jury’s choice, an opera aria in the original language and possibly another opera aria from those not yet performed.
FINAL (Finalists’ Gala): The competitor must perform two opera arias in the original language, at the jury’s choice.
Art. 10
Semifinalists by right: Competitors who have won the first three prizes in other international opera competitions are allowed to go directly to the semifinal stage. Competitors who wish to avail themselves of this option must send a copy of a certified regulation (with the obligatory term “International”) or a diploma of merit attesting to their victory in the first 3 positions, together with their application form. The copy of the certificate presented by the competitor must be countersigned by him/her for authenticity.
Art. 11
Competitors may avail themselves of the accompanists made available by the Artistic Direction of the Competition AT NO ADDITIONAL COST or, at their own expense, have their own trusted pianist accompany them.
Art. 12
The jury will be composed of personalities of great renown in the Italian and international opera scene. The jury’s decisions are final and unappealable.

Art. 13
Photographic services, audio or video recordings will not entitle participants to any compensation.
Art. 14
The host municipality and the organization are not responsible for any damage to persons or property during the competition. For any disputes, the Court of Teramo shall have jurisdiction.
Art. 15
The Artistic Direction and the Organization of the Competition reserve the right to make changes to these regulations if necessary.
Art. 16
Pursuant to European Regulation 679/2016 on the protection of personal data, the Associazione Culturale Il Cantiere delle Arti informs that the data provided in the application form will be stored and used by the same association exclusively for the purpose of sending information relating to the Association which, pursuant to the aforementioned Legislative Decree, the data subject has the right to know, update, cancel and rectify his/her data or to object to their use.
